There’s a unique satisfaction that comes with wrapping up a beautiful holiday. Today, as I head home from Fuerteventura, I’m reflecting on how simple choices can profoundly impact our well-being, especially when it comes to travel.
My day started with a relaxed two hours by the pool, followed by the final, calm ritual of packing. The transfer bus is set for a smooth midday pickup, and the flight looks to be on time. What made this particular departure so stress-free? A small, intentional shift in my travel plans.
I’ve discovered a preference for morning flights—a small change that makes a significant difference. By opting for the first flights of the day, there’s less chance of cascading delays. It means no anxious waiting around, a cleaner process from hotel room to gate, and the freedom to truly relax until it’s time to go. This simple adjustment has become a cornerstone for my future bookings, a testament to how aligning with what reduces personal anxiety can transform the travel experience.
This holiday has been incredibly relaxing, and I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity to step away and recharge. But there’s also a powerful pull towards home. I find myself looking forward to familiar comforts: my own house, my bed, getting back to the gym, spending time with my cat and my Mum, and some dedicated gaming time.
It’s a beautiful balance, isn’t it? To wholeheartedly enjoy the “chill out” of a holiday, and yet to return with an equally strong appreciation for the life waiting back home. There’s a profound sense of gratitude in knowing I love both.
